R. Jason Read

Jason joined Rynn & Janowsky, LLP upon receiving his LL.M. in International Business Law from the University of Exeter in England. He has been a partner with the firm since 1997. Jason devotes the majority of his time to representing the legal needs of the produce industry, including enforcement of the statutory trust provisions of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (“PACA”) in both U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts, negotiating and preparing both domestic and international produce marketing agreements, and preparing and perfecting security interests in crop collateral under both California commercial statutes and the Federal Food Security Act. Jason has also developed an expertise representing the interests of PACA licensees in administrative actions filed
with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

In addition to his PACA expertise, Jason is an arbitrator and mediator with the Fruit and Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corporation (“DRC”). Along with several of his law partners, Jason has been a featured speaker at numerous educational seminars presented by Rynn & Janowsky, LLP, in partnership with Western Growers and the USDA Risk Management Agency.
